Culture Camp for Kids

at the MidSouth World Dance Center

Ages 5-12
M-F, 9am-12pm
$30/day
$100/whole week
Dates coming soon....

We offer two  one-week camp opportunities for children. Each will cover different topics, so children can come to both or choose to attend only one.

Open your child's eyes to the cultures of the world!
At Culture Camp, your child will spend each day examining a different culture from around the world, exploring the similarities and differences to American culture. We'll use maps to learn the geographic location from where the culture comes, a brief history of the region, languages, clothing, and most importantly, music and dance! Children will listen to music from the target region, see videos of traditional dances, and even learn to play a few instruments and dance a few steps from each region! We'll have a craft activity each day and make a souvenir from each region for the kids to take home!

Camp Schedule Example:

Monday: West Africa - play djembe drums, energetic tribal dancing, play the 'animal' dance game, make African masks

Tuesday: India - learn bhangra dancing, make ramal hand scarves,

Wednesday: North Africa - learn Morroccan dances and the Tunisian twist, make hip scarves and fez hats

Thursday: China - dragon dancing, make dragon masks, Chinese New Year games

Friday: Hawaii - hula dancing, write your own dance story, make flower leis
